The Theme

A documentary homage to a painter at work. Benode Bihari Mukherjee lost his sight following a cataract surgery. Ray had been his student when he was at Santiniketan, the university founded by Tagore.
Blind, Benodebehari Mukherjee is sketching with a black felt pen having a thick nib.
The briskly walking hawker was drawn in 1971 with felt pen by the painter when he had gone blind.
